Luke 23:55-56
55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

The Bible is interestingly silent about what happened on Saturday after Jesus’ crucifixion. Perhaps it was a time no one wished to recall. It could be that the events before and after Saturday so overshadowed the day that it simply didn’t seem worth taking the time to talk about it. Whatever the reason, we can be sure that it was far from an ordinary Sabbath day for the disciples. Filled with a mixture of emotions, unsure of what was to come, waiting and hoping for a miracle, all we are told is that they returned and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Looking back we can see what was just about to happen. We have the advantage of knowing the rest of the story, but for the disciples this must have seemed like the end. But Sunday was coming…

Make plans to join us for worship on Easter Sunday Morning as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus! Come early and bring a friend.

God Bless,
See you in church!
